RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #27-572-6 with Clark S. Tsai, M.D., Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $425,000, to provide ophthalmology services for Contra Costa Health Plan members for the period from February 1, 2015 through January 31, 2017.  
  

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan Enterprise Fund III. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County.  
  
On March 12, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-572-5 with Clark S. Tsai, M.D., Inc., for the period from February 1, 2013 through January 31, 2015, to provide ophthalmology services to Contra Costa Health Plan members.  
  
Approval of Contract #27-572-6 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional ophthalmology services through January 31, 2017.  
  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
