RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-663-6 with Dino Elyassnia, M.D., a sole proprietor, in an amount not to exceed $750,000, for the provision of plastic and hand surgery services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from February 1, 2015 through January 31, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded by Enterprise I Budget. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On October 23, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-663-4 (as amended by Amendment Agreement 26-663-5) with Dino Elyassnia, M.D., for the period from November 1, 2012 through January 31, 2015, to provide plastic surgery services including clinic coverage, consultation and medical and/or surgical procedures, for patients at CCRMC. Approval of Contract #26-663-6 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide plastic and hand surgery services to patients at CCRMC, through January 31, 2018.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring plastic and hand surgery services would not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the levels of service to the community.
