RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to Purchase Order #50726 with Hill-Rom Inc., to add $40,000 for a new total of $139,000 for rental of hospital beds to be used at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period through February 9, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Hill-Rom Inc. has provided CCRMC with rental beds when replacement beds are needed due to repairs and bed brake-downs. The County buys beds from Hill-Rom Inc., so the rental and replacement of beds is faster and more efficient using Hill-Rom Inc. The County usage went over the original approved Purchase Order limit which left approximately $40,000 of unpaid invoices at the end of the term. This amendment is to pay for outstanding invoices for rental beds and bed replacements.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, outstanding invoices up to February 9, 2015 will not be paid and will impact rentals and replacements of needed patient beds at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
