RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD), Information Technology Unit, to execute a purchase order with Hewlett-Packard Company, in the amount not to exceed $131,084 to provide EHSD server maintenance, for the period March 1, 2015 through February 29, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$131,184: 100% Administrative Overhead (10% County; 45% State; 45% Federal)

BACKGROUND:

Hewlett-Packard (HP) server maintenance is a basic necessity for EHSD. EHSD uses HP servers throughout the organization, including the virtual environment. The HP server maintenance agreement enables the department to use receive maintenance and support on 40+ servers, 2 storage arrays and the Hard drives in the storage array. These servers represent EHSD’s current production environment. It is critical that we maintain these servers.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

EHSD servers may fail if not properly maintained.
