RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2015/79 to abolish specified position and layoff employee in the Probation Department effective April 30, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Annual salary savings of $69,672 to the General Fund will be realized through the elimination of this position.

BACKGROUND:

Populations at the Juvenile Hall and Byron Boys Ranch continue to decrease. As a result, the numbers of accounts to collect have also decreased. Due to a lack of work, the Probation Department is recommending the elimination of the Collection Enforcement Officer I position and layoff of its encumbent.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Today's action eliminates the Collection Enforcement Officer I position as shown on Attachment A and will have minimal impact on the department and its operations.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Probation Department will not be able to reduce its operating costs which may result in fiscal deficit.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
