RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2015/4424 declaring a stop-control on North Eden Plains Road (Road No. 8663B) at Delta Road (Road No. 8261), Knightsen area.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

The intersection of North Eden Plains Road and Delta Road is currently uncontrolled. The County’s Public Works Department Traffic Engineering Staff recently conducted an investigation of the intersection to determine if a stop-control of North Eden Plains Road could be justified.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Based on this investigation, it has been determined that a stop-control may be placed on North Eden Plains Road at Delta Road pursuant to California Vehicle Section 21354, which states that stop signs may be placed at entrances to through highways. Traffic Resolution 637, approved by the Board of Supervisors on March 7, 1961, designated Delta Road as a through highway. Therefore, the Public Works Department recommends implementation of a stop control with the installation of a stop sign, on North Eden Plains Road at Delta Road, as permitted at entrances to through highways.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

North Eden Plains Road at Delta Road will remain an uncontrolled intersection.
