RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Donna Wigand), to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #74–338 with Uzma Anwer, MD, a self-employed individual, (Medical Specialty: Psychiatric services), in an amount not to exceed $195,833, to provide psychiatric services, in East Contra Costa County, for the period from March 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment.

BACKGROUND:

For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services, which are not otherwise available.

Under Contract #74-338, the Contractor will provide psychiatric services to Seriously and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) adults in East Contra Costa County, through December 31, 2009.
