RECOMMENDATION(S):

  1. APPROVE a Lease renewal for a three year period commencing January 1, 2009 and ending December 31, 2011 with C. A. Lauritzen, LLC, dba Lauritzen Yacht Harbor, for approximately 1,725 square feet of office space located at 70 Lauritzen Lane, Oakley, at a rent of $1,510 per month, for continued occupancy by the Sheriff-Coroner under the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease. (T00617)

  2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXECUTE the Lease renewal, and to EXERCISE any options to extend the Lease.

  3. DETERMINE that the project is a Class 1, Section 15301 Categorical Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). CP # 08-19

RECOMMENDATION(S): (CONT'D)
  1. DIRECT the Department of Conservation and Development Director, or designee, to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk, and DIRECT the Director of General Services, or designee, to arrange for the payment of the handling fees to the Department of Conservation and Development and County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Lease renewal will obligate the County to pay rent of approximately $57,660 over the three year lease term. The Lease renewal was anticipated and budgeted in the Sheriff-Coroner’s approved FY 08/09 budget, and future rent obligations will be budgeted by the Sheriff-Coroner.

BACKGROUND:

The County has leased the premises since March 2001 for use by the Sheriff-Coroner’s Marine Patrol Unit and the Sheriff-Coroner has requested that this lease be renewed.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The lease for the Sheriff's occupancy of the premises would not be renewed, the Sheriff would not be able to house their Marine Patrol Unit at this location, and the County would have to find another location to store it's Marine Patrol Unit.
