RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with the City of Pittsburg to pay the County an amount not to exceed $8,000,000 to provide police dispatching services for the period January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Net County Cost. $8,000,000 revenue over five years.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff will provide police dispatching services, limited to law enforcement activity for the City of Pittsburg. Services will include dispatching, call-taking, sending and receiving voice and data traffic, answering emergency (911) calls and warrant checks to aid the the city's Police Department. This agreement includes a provision for mutual indemnificaiton between the City of Pittsburg and the County.


CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this contract will result in the inability of the Sheriff's Office to provide the City of Pittsburg with adequate 911 Dispatcher Services resulting in a safety concern for the community, reduced revenue for the Office of the Sheriff and the County General Fund.
