RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Baxter Healthcare Corp., in an amount not to exceed $160,000, for the purchase of intravenous (IV) and pharmaceutical drugs and supplies to be used at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Baxter Healthcare Corp. is a pharmaceutical company that provides the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers with medications and pharmaceutical products unavailable through the contracted wholesaler Cardinal.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, we will not be able to take care of our patient population at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers.
