RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Public Works Director, a blanket purchase order with G&K Services, in an amount not to exceed $450,000, for the period of February 1, 2017 through January 31, 2020, for as-needed garment rental and laundry services, Countywide.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

G&K Services provides garment rental and laundry services for Contra Costa County departments, and has offered the County a 2% discount across the board. G&K Services is the single provider selected to standardize the products offered and the services provided to the County. Products include uniforms, towels, linen and select cleaning supplies. Pricing is fixed throughout the term to allow departments to accurately budget expenses. G&K Services is a local business enterprise.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the blanket purchase order is not approved, costs for uniforms and towels will increase.
