RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Risk Manager to execute a contract with Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) in an amount not to exceed $188,686 to perform medical billing reviews for the period effective January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funded by the Workers’ Compensation Internal Service Fund

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

BACKGROUND:

The Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group (CCCSIG) and the Contra Costa County Risk Management Division created a joint partnership public entities in 2003. CCCSIG has provided workers’ compensation medical bill review services for Risk Management at reduced annual review costs from the County’s previous private provider. This contract will allow the County to continue to receive the same services at a lower rate.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: (CONT'D)

Without necessary bill review services, the County cannot maintain compliance of California Department of Industrial Relations.
