RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21424 to Add one Pre-Hospital Care Coordinator (VBSG) position at salary level ZB5 1766 ($5,971.06-$7,257.86) and Cancel one vacant Registered Nurse - Advanced Level position (#8594) in the Health Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in a cost savings of $25,767 per year to the Measure H fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting the addition of this position in order to maintain the sustainability of vital community programs within the Emergency Medical Services Division. This position would be responsible for supporting the following high profile public programs: Cardiac Arrest System of Care Development, HeartSafe Communities, County Public Access AED Program, and the Hands/Only CPR Community Program and CPR for Schools. The Department has evaluated the duties associated with the position and has determined that this is the appropriate classification.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, these beneficial community programs would be suspended and we would not be able to provide these much needed services to the citizens of Contra Costa County.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

CPR in schools program sustainability and funding would be jeopardized.
