RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Agreement #29-681 (Requisition #43824941) with the Regents of the University of California (University), to pay County an amount not to exceed $30,000, to collaborate on the Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship Program, for the period from May 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $30,000 from the University for the Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship Program. (No County match)

BACKGROUND:

The University is establishing a Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship Program in accordance with its mission of teaching, research and public service. The County will assist the University by providing the following services: 1) serve as co-director for the Program; (2) administer the program (3) direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum; (4) recruit participants; (5) teach curriculum modules; and (6) provide mentoring for fellows.

Approval of Agreement #29-681 will allow the County to collaborate on the Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship Program through June 30, 2016, including mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance of this Contract.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Agreement is not approved, County will not receive funding to support the University’s Northern California Faculty Development Fellowship Program.
