RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-657-5 with Amarjit Dosanjh, M.D., a self-employed individual, effective September 1, 2013, to amend Contract #26-657-3, to increase the payment limit by $24,300, from $900,000 to a new payment limit of $924,300, with no change in the original term of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On October 16, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-657-3 with Amarjit Dosanjh, M.D., for the provision of professional plastic and hand surgery services including consultation, training, on-call coverage and medical and/or surgical procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers(CCRMC), for the period from October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2014.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-657-5 will allow the Contractor to provide additional professional plastic and hand surgery services at CCRMC through September 30, 2014.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring professional plastic and hand surgery services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction of the overall levels of service to the community.
