RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE the Upper Sand Creek Basin Wetland Restoration Project contingency fund increase of $22,000 for a new contingency fund total of $35,804.19, and a new payment limit of $173,846.09, effective February 4, 2014, as recommended by the Chief Engineer, and


APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer, or designee, to execute Contract Change Order No. 1 with SMP Services, Inc., effective February 4, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $20,434.00. Project No. 7562-6D8518-13

FISCAL IMPACT:

Project is being funded by 100% Drainage Area 130 Funds.

BACKGROUND:

Due to the unavailability of specified contract items (plants) replacement items are required. The replacement plants are larger and have an increased cost. This change will increase plant survivability for the project. The contingency fund increase is necessary to compensate the contractor for the replacement items.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and prevent the contractor from being compensated for additional costs.
