RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #76-507-13 with Lee A. Shratter, M.D., A Professional Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $900,000, to provide professional radiology services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016.  

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)  

BACKGROUND:

For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services, which are not otherwise available.

On January 11, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-507-10 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #76-507-11 and #76-507-12) with Lee A. Shratter, M.D., A Professional Corporation, for the provision of radiology services including consultation, on-call coverage and interpretation of CT Scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, invasive procedures and plain films for CCRMC, for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013.  
  
Approval of Contract #76-507-13 will allow Contractor to continue providing professional radiology services through December 31, 2016.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s professional radiology services, which may result in a reduction in overall levels of service to the community.
