RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE the refund of over-payment of transfer tax in the amount of $493.90 and AUTHORIZE the County Auditor-Controller to issue a refund to:

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a request to refund $493.90 of over-collected funds. Both the over-payment and reimbursement of documentary transfer tax are from fiscal year 2013-2014 general fund.

BACKGROUND:

A grant deed was recorded and transfer tax was collected. After recording, it was discovered that the deed had been recorded in error.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to reimburse the party would cause them to pay more than legally required for documentary transfer tax.
