RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-203-33 with Pharmacy Temps, Inc. (dba NorCal Medical Temps), a corporation, effective January 1, 2013, to amend Contract #26-203-32, to increase the payment limit by $30,000, from $100,000 to a new payment limit of $130,000, with no change in the original term of April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

In April 2012, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #26-203-32 with Pharmacy Temps, Inc. (dba NorCal Medical Temps) for the period from April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013, for the provision of temporary pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.  
  

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-203-33 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services through March 31, 2013.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center would not have appropriate pharmacist and pharmacy technician coverage during peak loads and staff absences.
