RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a purchase order with Pharmedium Services LLC, in the amount of $225,000, for pain management/pre-mix medications for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from February 1, 2013 through January 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
Recalls and back orders of medications have prompted the Pharmacy Department to directly purchase medications through manufacturers such as Pharmedium Services, LLC. Pharmedium Services, LLC strictly adheres to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compounding guidelines through exclusive use of commercially available FDA approved sterile additives, solutions and containers. These medications are in short supply or are not commercially available through our contracted drug wholesaler, Cardinal Health.
