RECOMMENDATION(S):

RECOGNIZE Employment & Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau Comprehensive Services Manager, Debi Marse, for her work on the Bureau's annual "Give Kids A Smile" Day and receipt of the 2013 Manager of the Year award from California Head Start Association.

BACKGROUND:

The Community Services Bureau has conducted an annual "Give Kids A Smile" Day for a number of years. The annual campaign seeks to bring free and reduced cost dental services to children enrolled in the Bureau's Head Start and Child Development programs. The program has been successful in providing preventive dental services to children who might otherwise remain untreated. This board order recognizes the program manager responsible for "Give Kids A Smile" Day and congratulates her on being the 2013 Manager of the Year awarded by the California Head Start Association.

The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
