RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute a purchase order, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, with Computer Associates, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $375,000 for the renewal of software licenses and maintenance agreement for the County Property Tax, Finance, and Law and Justice Information systems for the period March 31, 2013 through March 30, 2016. (100% User Fees).

FISCAL IMPACT:

$375,000; $124,865 annually for three years. Funded by departmental user fee.

BACKGROUND:

The County Property Tax, Finance, and Law and Justice Information systems were developed using software generated by Computer Associates, Inc. Computer Associates, Inc. licenses include support and maintenance of related products.  
  
In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for single item purchases over $100,000. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and recommends approval.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without these licenses and support, the County will be unable to operate its property tax, finance and law and justice Information systems. This will directly impact the County’s ability to operate and perform mandated functions.
