RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Johnson and Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc., in the amount of $350,000.00 for surgery supplies for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Enterprise Fund I

BACKGROUND:

The Johnson and Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. blanket Purchase Order will be used to purchase gynecology, orthopedic, general, laparoscopic and sterilization products for surgeries at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. Some of the products that will be purchased are plates, screws, hernia mesh, cool sterilization accessories, disposable scissors, thermal ablation products and equipment. This will enable the Health Services Department to provide the best possible patient care.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase is not approved, surgeries such as laparoscopic, orthopedic, and sterilization will not be performed, impacting patient care, comfort, and safety at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
