RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute contract amendment with Alerting Solutions, Inc. To change payment limits in an amount not to exceed $3,456,851 to provide proprietary software maintenance for the County's Community Warning (Siren) System for the period July 24, 2012 through July 23, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None. This contract is fully funded by the Certified Unified Program Administration (CUPA) with allocated business plan fees.

BACKGROUND:

On July 24, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved an Agreement with Alerting Solutions, Inc. A full-service alert and warning company specializing in fixed siren systems and emergency notification systems. Alerting Solutions, Inc., provides support for the Contra Costa County Community Warning System. The Contra Costa County Community Warning System consists of 25 separate and linked control centers, monitoring systems, and communication systems between emergency responders, sirens (40), and other alerting devices (700+), and automated links to radio and television stations serving the community. Due to an unforeseen change in sub-contractors payment terms from December 1, 2012 through November 30, 2013 will increase in the amount of $909 per month.
