RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #24-403-11 with Jon Whalen, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $300,800 to provide professional outpatient children’s psychiatric services, for the period from February 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded by 50% Federal Medi-Cal and 50% Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On February 28, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-403-10 with Jon Whalen, M.D, for the period from February 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013 for the provision of professional outpatient psychiatric services for children at the East County Mental Health Clinic.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s professional outpatient psychiatric services and will experience reduced levels of service.
