ADOPT Personnel Adjustment Resolution No.21230 to cancel one (1) Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III (6DTB)(represented) vacant position #2905 at salary level VHX 1965 ($6,969- $8,683) , one (1) Fingerprint Examiner II (64VG)(represented) vacant position #2498 at salary level VN5 1578 ($4,953- $6,021), and one (1) Sheriff’s Aide (64VF)(represented) vacant position #13618 at salary level VN5 1119 ($3,144- $3,822) from the Support Services Bureau; and add one (1) Criminalist II (6DVC)(represented) position at salary level VN5 1774 ($6,014- $7,311) to the Support Services Bureau and one (1) Deputy Sheriff-40 Hour (6XWA)(represented) position at salary level VHX 1688 ($5,298-6,600) to the Field Operations Bureau.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$49,012.35 savings this FY for the Office of the Sheriff General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

Accreditation burdens in the Support Services Bureau – Forensic Services Division have increased the need for administrative and operational supervision. A specific sequence must be followed in order to accomplish our goal. These position changes are proposed to meet Divisional needs while moving a Deputy Sheriff position to augment Field Operations. This is the first step in the proposed realignment of positions within the Forensic Division which will occur throughout this Fiscal Year. Several currently occupied positions will be vacated this Fiscal Year and subsequently unfunded. The completed realignment of positions within the Forensic Division will be essentially cost neutral.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the department will not have adequate staff to meet the department's needs in the Support Services Bureau- Forensic Services Division and Field Operations Bureau-Patrol Division.
