RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a purchase order with Nexus IS, Inc, in an amount not to exceed $417,031, for purchase of Nexus VMAX disk drives for Epic Electronic Health Records at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Purchase is fully paid for from (a) the Medicare & Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and (b) the Delivery System Reform and Incentive Pool (DSRIP) funding.

BACKGROUND:

Health Services Department Information Technology uses Disk Arrays to run most of our Microsoft Windows Servers in a Virtual Environment. These Servers run many of the medical applications that the Health Services Department uses. Nexus will provide VMAX Drive upgrades for primary site in Pittsburg and the disaster recovery site in Martinez.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase is not approved we will not be able to take maximum advantage of the technologies available through the Epic EHR.
