RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74-423-1 with Jenan Al-Mufti, M.D. a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $145,600, to provide professional psychiatric services for the period from April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment Trust Fund. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services, which are not otherwise available in its Hospital and Health Centers.  
On May 3, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-423 with Jenan Al-Mufti for the period from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012, for the provision of professional outpatient psychiatric services for adults in central county.

Approval of Contract #74-423-1 will allow Contractor to continue providing psychiatric services for adults in central county through March 31, 2013.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, there will be fewer professional psychiatric services for County’s Adult Mental Health Clinics.
