RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-468-2 with J. Michael Rona Consulting, LLC (dba Rona Consulting Group), a limited liability company, effective October 1, 2011, to amend Contract #23-468 (as amended by Contract Amendment/Extension Agreement #23-468-1), to increase the Payment Limit by $165,000 from $345,000 to a new total Payment Limit of $510,000, with no change in the original term of March 23, 2010 through March 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment reflects an increase of $165,000 and is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No increase in rates.

BACKGROUND:

In May 2010, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #23-468 (as amended by Contract Amendment/Extension Agreement #23-468-1), with J. Michael Rona Consulting, LLC (dba Rona Consulting Group), for the period from March 24, 2010 through March 31, 2012, for the provision of consultation and technical assistance to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers’ staff with regard to the Lean Improvement Project.   
  
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-468-2 will allow the Contractor to provide additional lean improvement services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers through March 31, 2012.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, County will not be able to improve on its lean efforts at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and benefit from Contractors’ services.
