RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2012/66 approving an extension of the current Memorandum of Understanding between Contra Costa County and the California Nurses Association, extending negotiated wage agreements and other economic terms and conditions of employment. The term of the MOU will be extended through April 30, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

BACKGROUND:

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Contra Costa County and the California Nurses Association was effective February 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009, then extended through December 31, 2011. The parties have met and agreed to extend the current terms and conditions of employment until April 30, 2012, to allow continuation of current terms while the negotiations for a new Memorandum of Understanding continue.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The County would not be in compliance with the Meyers Milias Brown Act, Government Code Section 3500 et seq.
