RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-715 with Walnut Creek Surgical Associates, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $450,000, to provide general surgery services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Under Contract #26-715, the Contractor will provide general surgery services, including consultation, training, on-call, medical and/or surgical procedures, and clinic coverage, for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would experience longer wait times and possibly go untreated.
