RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner as fiscal agent for the City of Oakley, a purchase order with Motorola in the amount of $120,520 for East Bay Regional Communications System compliant radio equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$120,520 funded by City of Oakley contributions to the County's Law Enforcement Capital Projects Fund 105600. No net County cost.

BACKGROUND:

The Sheriff's Office has used Motorola for their communications system (Dispatch and Field Operations) for over 20 years. The Oakley Police Department received their dispatch communication services from the Sheriff's Office Communications Center and to maintain continuity of this operational relationship, Motorola is the optimal choice for related communications equipment. Motorola has been selected in the past because of reliability and ease of maintenance. Because of the proprietary nature of this equipment, Oakley PD chose to purchase Motorola communications equipment as an extension of the EBRCS P25 digital communication project.
