RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-680-2 with Jacqueline J. Park, M.D., a self-employed individual, effective December 1, 2011, to amend Contract #26-680 (as amended by #26-680-1), to increase the payment limit by $33,200, from $330,000 to a new payment limit of $363,200 with no change in the original term of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On November 11, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-680 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-680-1) with Jacqueline J. Park, M.D., for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013, for the provision of gastroenterology services including clinic coverage, gastrointestinal laboratory sessions, consultation, training, on-call services and medical and/or surgical procedures.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-680-2 will allow the Contractor to provide additional gastroenterology clinic coverage for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, through December 31, 2013.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would experience longer wait times and possibly go untreated.

Not applicable.
