RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute Blanket Purchase Order with Beckman Coulter, Inc., in the amount of $146,882, for service maintenance for the period from December 1, 2012 to November 30, 2016 for two hematology analyzers (DXH 800) and December 1, 2013 to November 30, 2016 for one Slide maker/Stainer (DXH SMS) at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Health Services Department uses the Hemotology Analyzers and Slide Maker/Stainer to perform various chemistry tests for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers (CCRMC). The maintenance will allow the equipment to be serviced and repaired twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Beckman Coulter, Inc. is a participating vendor in our “Novation” Group Purchasing Alliance, allowing us to secure preferred pricing.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, there would be no 24X7 maintanance for the two new DXH 800 and the new slidemaker/stainer DXH SMS. Service would be charged per visit and would be much more expensive.
