RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute a blanket purchase order with Beckman Coulter, Inc., in an amount of $350,000 for consumables including reagents, controls and supplies for two (2) new hematology analyzers (DXH 800) and one (1) slide maker/stainer (DXH SMS), for the period from December 1, 2011 through November 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Health Services Department uses the Hemotology Analyzers and Slide Maker/Stainers to perform various chemistry tests for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers (CCRMC). This Purchase Order is for consumables including reagents, supplies and controls which are needed to perform the tests. These reagents, controls and supplies are exclusively for these new analyzers. Beckman Coulter, Inc. is a participating vendor in our Novation Group Purchasing Alliance, allowing us to secure preferred pricing on all products.



CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Contract is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to perform patient testing without the necessary consumable supplies.
