RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-641-8 with Advanced Medical Personnel Services, Inc., a corporation, effective October 24, 2011, to amend Contract #26-641-7, to increase the payment limit by $200,000, from $350,000 to a new payment limit of $550,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase.

BACKGROUND:

On August 9, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-641-7 with Advanced Medical Personnel Services, Inc., to provide temporary physical, occupations and speech therapists at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Due to the inability to recruit and retain a sufficient number County employed physical and occupational therapists, one speech pathologist who recently resigned and additional therapists needed to assist with the EPIC EHR Project, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has had to rely heavily on this registry to provide necessary services. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-641-8 will allow the Contractor to provide additional temporary therapy services, through June 30, 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would not have sufficient number of occupational, physical and speech therapist to treat patients.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
