RECOMMENDATION(S):

Adopt Resolution #21045 to add one (1) Lead Registered Dental Assistant (V9VD) position at salary level QB5 1154 ($3,349-$4,071) and cancel a vacant Senior Public Health Dental Assistant position (#9363) at salary level QB5 1016 ($2,921-$3,551) in the Health Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual total cost of $9,206.94, which will be completely offset by Title 19 match funding.

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting the addition of this position in order to effectively manage the Children's Oral Health Program within the Public Health Division. The position will be responsible for providing lead direction to several Registered Dental Assistants engaged in providing dental health services and education to school aged children in Contra Costa County, acting as a Registered Dental Assistant, as well assisting management staff with ensuring that the program and staff are in compliance with stringent regulatory standards.

The Senior Public Health Dental Assistant position is vacant and no longer needed.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Public Health Division will not be able to effectively manage the Children's Oral Health Program which provides much needed dental health services to school aged children throughout Contra Costa County.
