RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-350-11 with Merritt, Hawkins and Associates, a corporation, effective July 1, 2011 to amend Contract #26-350-10 to modify the payment provisions to reflect the intent of the parties, with no change in the original Payment Limit of $300,000 and no change in the term of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding is 100% Enterprise I Funds. No change in total Payment Limit. This Amendment contains an increase in the payment provisions to allow reimbursement to Contractor for additional expenses incurred while providing recruitment services.

BACKGROUND:

On August 16, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-350-10, Merritt, Hawkins, and Associates to provide recruitment services including, but not limited to marketing, screening, interviewing and referring to the Department qualified candidates, whom County may hire as specialists to provide psychiatry services for Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers, through June 30, 2012.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Amendment Agreement #26-350-11 will modify the Payment Provisions to reflect the intent as agreed upon by the parties to allow Contractor to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses and allow the Contractor to continue to provide services, through June 30, 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the Contractor would not be able to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses incurred while providing recruitment services of family practices physicians for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
