RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #74–181–12 with Bay Area Community Resources, Inc., a non-profit corporation, effective December 1, 2010, to amend Contract #74–181–11, to increase the payment limit by $14,966, from $345,433 to a new payment limit of $360,399, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 62% by Federal Primary Prevention Set-Aside, 8% by State Comprehensive Drug Court Implementation (CDCI), and 30% by California Emergency Management Agency – Justice Assistance Grant Offender Treatment Program (CAL EMA JAG-OTP). (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74–181–11 with Bay Area Community Resources, Inc. for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, for the provision of drug abuse prevention and treatment services.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #74–181–12 will allow the Contractor to provide services to additional clients through June 30, 2011.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, County’s JAG clients will not receive drug abuse prevention and treatment services.
