RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase change order with Sysco Food Services - Sacramento, to extend the termination date from June 31, 2011 to September 30, 2011 and increase the payment limit by $936,000 to a new payment limit of $2,436,000 to provide poultry and related meal products for inmates in adult detention facilities

FISCAL IMPACT:

$936,000. 100% County General Fund; Budgeted in fiscal year 2010/11.

BACKGROUND:

Sysco is the only Northern California food services provider specializing in providing food products to detention facilities in bulk quantities. The County benefits greatly from the lower price structure offered by the vendor and financial rebates on both quantity purchases and manufacturer's rebates which aid the department in cost-saving goals.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Sheriff will not be able to purchase food items for inmate meals.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
