RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, of designee, to execute a contract with the U.S. Department of Army Civilian Police - Military Ocean Terminal, Concord (MOTCO), including modified indemnification language, to pay the County $350 per day for use of Sheriff's Range Facility for the period January 1 through June 30, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No net County costs - 100% Revenue

BACKGROUND:

The U.S. Department of Army Civilian Police - Military Ocean Terminal, Concord (MOTCO) have federal police officers requiring firearms qualifications on a regular basis. This contract provides for use of the Sheriff's Range Facilities, including firearms range and classroom, for firearms qualification of these federal law enforcement officers. County Counsel has approved the mutual indemnification language included in this contract.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The U.S. Department of Army Civilian Police - Military Ocean Terminal, Concord (MOTCO) will not be able to use the Sheriff's Range when available.
