RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with Hunter Research, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $850,000 for software design, development, programming, and annual maintenance support for the Automated Regional Information Exchange System (ARIES) Project for the period January 1 through December 31, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No net County Costs. This Contract will be funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2009 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant and through subscriber fees collected from subscribing agencies to ARIES.

BACKGROUND:

The proposed contract with Hunter Research, Inc., provides continuity in the plan developed by Automated Regional Information Exchange System (ARIES) Operations Committee and adopted by the County Justice Automation Advisory Committee (JAAC) for countywide justice and law enforcement systems integration and information sharing. ARIES continues to expand due to interest in the system from jurisdictions throughout the State. Subscribing jurisdictions pay for access to ARIES; subscriber fees and the remaining grant funds dedicated to ARIES will fund this effort.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Negative action on this request will result in delayed software design, development, programming, and annual maintenance support for the ARIES project.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
