RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of Airports, or designee, to execute an amendment to the Consulting Services Agreement between the County and KSA Engineers, Inc. dated November 1, 2021, for the Buchanan Field terminal project, to supplement the rate sheet and increase the payment limit by $790,508, from $1,610,878 to a new limit of $2,401,386.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no negative impact on the General Fund. The increase in the contract amount will be paid by the Airport Enterprise Fund.

BACKGROUND:

KSA Engineers, Inc. (KSA) is performing construction management services during the construction of the Buchanan Field Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF)/Terminal Building. Because the completion date of the building is expected to take seven to eight months longer than originally planned, KSA is needed to perform additional construction management services through the end of the project, which also necessitates adding a supplemental consultant rate sheet for this work. The cost of the additional construction management services requires an increase in the contract limit by $790,508, from $1,610,878 to a new limit of $2,401,386.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the increase in the payment limit is not approved, KSA Engineers, Inc. will not be able to perform the desired construction management services beyond December 2022.
