RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2021/400 to APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with the California Department of Aging to accept additional funding in the amount of $492,057 for a new total amount of $6,478,915 with no change to term July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This additional funding is 100% Federal.

  1. $474,965 / CFDA # 93.045

  2. $15,381 / CFDA # 93.747

  3. $ 1,711 / CFDA # 93.042

FISCAL IMPACT: (CONT'D)

BACKGROUND:

The Employment and Human Services Department, Area Agency on Aging, provides services to older persons and adults with disabilities, as defined by the Older American Act (OAA), which especially targets lower-income, limited-English speaking, homebound and isolated, LGBTQ, and residents in long-term care facilities. California Department of Aging (CDA) has provided additional funding to the County in the amount of $492,057 for a new total payment of $6,478,915. Funding is from the Consolidated Appropriations Act, Elder Justice Act Title XX, and CARES Act Robotic Companion Pet Project to bolster its OAA Ombudsman and home-delivered meal services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without the additional funding, services to support seniors during this pandemic could not be adequately provided.
