RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #74-433-13 with Michael Levin, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $285,496, to provide outpatient psychiatric care for mentally ill adults in Contra Costa County for the period from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 51% by Conservatorship/Guardian funding and 49% Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The Behavioral Health Division has been contracting with Michael Levin, M.D. since January 1, 2012 to provide outpatient psychiatric care to mentally ill adults in Contra Costa County.

On January 1, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-433-12 with Michael Levin, M.D., in an amount not to exceed $285,496 for the provision of outpatient psychiatric services, including, diagnosing, counseling, evaluating, medical and therapeutic treatment, consulting, training to other clinical staff, and expert testimony in LPS conservatorship trials, for the period from January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2021.  
  
Approval of Contract #74-433-13 will allow the contractor to continue providing outpatient psychiatric care through December 31, 2022.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the County’s clients will not have access to this contractor’s psychiatric care services.
