RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Extension Agreement #72-102-1 with Bay Area Legal Aid, a non-profit corporation, to extend the termination date from December 31, 2020 to February 28, 2021 with no change in the original payment limit of $1,050,000, to continue to provide legal services to County residents participating in County’s Community Connect Program.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no change in the contract payment limit of $1,050,000. This contract is funded 100% by the Federal Whole Person Care Grant.

BACKGROUND:

On July 11, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #72-102, with Bay Area Legal Aid, to provide civil legal assistance services to County residents participating in County’s Community Connect Program to address legal needs that are impacting their health care and health outcomes for the period July 1, 2017 through December 31, 2020.

Approval of Contract Extension Agreement #72-102-1 will allow the Contractor to continue providing legal services to County residents participating in County’s Community Connect Program through February 28, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this extension is not approved, Community Connect participants will not receive legal aid services for multiple legal needs which will negatively impact health outcomes.
