RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Interim Public Works Director, a purchase order with Jon K. Takata Corp. (dba Restoration Management Company), in an amount not to exceed $250,000, for water abatement and repair at the Contra Costa Finance Building, 625 Court Street, Martinez.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through Facilities Services budget. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

On October 30, 2017, the Contra Costa County Finance Building at 625 Court Street, Martinez suffered a massive potable water leak. This started in the 2^nd floor restrooms, and saturated sections of the first, second and the basement floors. Restoration Management was called out to abate the area and give us a quote on reconstruction of all damaged areas. The water remediation and reconstruction has been estimated at $250,000. Facility Services is requesting a purchase order to complete this project.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this agreement is not approved, then water abatement and damage reconstruction at the Contra Costa Finance Building will discontinue.
