RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #27-689-6 with Epic Care, a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $7,000,000, to provide hematology, oncology and gastric bypass surgery services to Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) members for the period from December 1, 2017 through November 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan Enterprise Fund II. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On December 15, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-689-5 with East Bay Medical Oncology/Hematology Medical Associates, Inc. (now known as Epic Care) for the provision of hematology and oncology services to CCHP members, for the period from December 1, 2015 through November 30, 2017.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #27-689-6 will allow the contractor to provide hematology, oncology and bypass surgery services for CCHP members, through November 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
