RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with UHS Surgical Services, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the rental of medical devices and equipment for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC rents hospital beds, infusion pumps, and other medical equipment and devices from this vendor. UHS Surgical Services, Inc. has provided competitive pricing through the Vizient Group Purchasing Contract. It is more cost effective to rent than to purchase some medical equipment.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC will not have enough beds and other equipment to care for its patients. If the CCRMC has to purchase medical equipment, the cost to the Health Services Department will be higher.
