RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the results of the Presidential General Election, conducted on November. 6, 2012, for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Measure Q and the unopposed Superior Court Judges appointments as recommended by the Clerk Reorder.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None

BACKGROUND:

Elections Code 15372 requires the Elections Official to prepare a certified statement of the results of the election and submit it to the governing body within 28 days of the election, which is December 4, 2012 for the November 6, 2012 Presidential General Election.

A certified Statement of Votes to accompany the Agenda Item will be delivered as soon as the certification is executed.

Elections Code 15400 requires the governing body to declare elected or nominated the person who was elected to each office. The governing board shall declare the results of each measure under its jurisdiction.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Elections Code 8203 (c) provides for unopposed Superior Court Judges to be declared elected. The following list of candidates and local jurisdiction measure will not receive official approval and authorization will not be done to declare and accept the results of the election.
